Science & Health: Why Omega-3?

Numerous clinical studies demonstrate that fatty acids are major nutritional contributors to our overall health.

Omega-3 and omega-6 are essential fatty acids, meaning our bodies cannot produce them so we must obtain them from our diet.

Omega-3 (α-linolenic acid, or ALA) helps prevent heart attacks and stroke, reduces chronic inflammation (such as in type-2 diabetes), and maintains a healthy nervous system.

Omega-6 (linoleic acid, or LA) is also necessary for normal growth and development but too much of it has been shown to increase chronic inflammation.

Less omega-6 and more omega-3 is better for our health.
